Murassi.

It's called “MURASSI” where the “S” replace the “Z”: a reference to Venice and its largest island, the Lido,
and to the Venetian language that transforms the hardness of the z into soft s.

Murassi was born out of the friendship between a group of people: Nicola, Licia, Francesco, Emanuele, Federico, Rosanna, Martin, Chiara and Valeria.

Friendship is born from the most disparate encounters and in all places. Sometimes there is an interest, a situation that unites, like a post-graduate training course. This is the case of the group of friends of Nicola Pizzolo who meet every year in the summer in a place that has become symbolic: the Murazzi of the Lido of Venice.

The idea.

Friendship, the Venice skyline, sea, sun and a glass of Prosecco are the essential ingredients of convivial gatherings at Murazzi. And so, quoting the songs of the Venetian Patty Pravo, a “crazy idea” “is born a little by crawling”, an idea takes hold that then did not turn out to be so crazy.

The vineyard was the passion of Orazio, Nicola's father. In the 1990s, due to a further specialization of the company in cattle breeding, a family activity for generations, the vineyard made room for other crops. But Orazio's passion for vines has not faded and his desire to plant vineyards - Glera again was satisfied in 2016, just in time for him to see the vines around the company, unfortunately for only one year.

With the Glera vines, the variety of vine from which Prosecco is obtained, Nicola produces good grapes and sells them. So why not close the path that leads from grapes to Prosecco DOC, the most democratic sparkling wine with designation of origin in the world?

Project.

The availability of grapes in the company's vineyards was not a sufficient condition to realize the idea: it needed the entrepreneurship of Nicola and his brother Riccardo who draws on his economic education and begins the journey into the knowledge of the transformation of grapes into a drink that until now he has only enjoyed.

With the help of the oenologist, the winemaking and sparkling winemaking methods, the sugar dosage and the bottle were established. The next step was to vinify the grapes from part of the 8 hectares of vineyard: during the 2021 harvest, with the production of Murassi Prosecco DOC, the Murassi project officially began.

Nicola announced his decision to his friends who rejoiced. The group brainstorming began to find a name that represents the genesis of the idea and the mood that this effervescent wine wants to evoke.

The label features a stylized drawing of one of the symbols of the Murazzi of the Lido of Venice: the extemporaneous architecture built with driftwood returned by the sea covered with branches, those "huts" that provide a little shade on sunny and happy summer days.
